The Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development (Detroit, MI) is committed to helping preserve and continue Rosa Park’s life work! Co-founded in February 1987 by Mrs. Rosa Parks and Ms. Elaine Eason Steele, in honor of Raymond Parks (1903 – 1977), the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development is the living legacy of two individuals who committed their lives to civil and human rights. They were committed to encouraging others to register to vote, pool their financial resources, advocate for quality formal education and become involved in community development.
Congratulations to the American Human Rights Council because it personifies Rosa Parks’ work. This Community out-reach places special emphasis on the Rights of Prisoners and their families which is very much needed today. The Prison System is a microcosm of the United States.
