AHRC salutes women on their universal day- March 8. As we celebrate this year’s International Women day, we are reminded of the tough challenges women continue to face. Such challenges include the inability of mothers to confer their nationality to their children and thousands of females especially migrants are being forced into prostitution.
In her message for International Women’s Day 2015, UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, says gender parity must be reached before 2030. She calls on all countries to “step it up” for gender equality, to reach ‘Planet 50:50′ before 2030.
“Every day is women’s day. They are our mothers, our wives and our sisters. We in the human rights community aspire for a world with women and men equally enjoying all the human rights promised in the UN Declaration” said Imad Hamad AHRC Executive Director. “The struggle for the rights of women is at the core of the struggle for human rights,” continued Hamad.
