The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) calls upon members of the community at large to actively participate in the Neighbor to Neighbor Awareness Walk Against Hazardous Waste Stored in Detroit and Hamtramck Neighborhoods. The walk will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2015.  Staging and informational meeting will be at 10:30 am.  Volunteers will be asked to distribute information door to door to residents who live near the US Ecology facility. People will gather at Delite Café and Deli located at 3135 Caniff Ave in the city of Hamtramck.

AHRC appeals to all to join Representative Rose Mary C. Robinson and a coalition of organizations in urging residents to voice their concerns about US Ecology’s hazardous waste facility and their proposed ten-fold expansion on Georgia Street in Detroit, several blocks from Hamtramck.

The purpose of this WALK is to inform residents of the procedure to submit questions and report bad conditions to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.  The deadline to submit comments on the US Ecology’s license renewal and expansion is October 12, 2015.
