AHRC Women Delegation in Action at the United Nations:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) is gratified that its women delegation has been on the ground of the United Nations in New York City, actively participating in the UN Women – United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women 2019 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women that started on March 11 and ends March 22, 2019.
Hundreds of participants gathered from all over the world to address the global state of women and women empowerment through different sessions and workshops including a prime session with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres.
Members of the AHRC delegation included women members from Michigan, New York, New Jersey and abroad. AHRC’s participation marks the first participation of AHRC women in the premier global forum for human rights in the world, the UN. AHRC is proud of this opportunity to advocate for human rights, especially women’s rights at the United Nations.
“Women from around the globe have rallied to urge the world to give women the dignity that they are due,” said atty. Allison Folmar, AHRC Women delegate member. “Women are asking for resources to combat the marginalization of women in underdeveloped countries,” added Folmar. “I never realized the magnitude of the collective global movement for the advancement of women. I am motivated to find the movement at home to work in collaboration with the global movement and to participate in this annual empowerment of women,” continued Flomar. “We thank Imad and AHRC for their efforts promoting women’s interests in the US and abroad,” concluded Folmar.
