AHRC Renews its call for TPS for Yemen:

AHRC renews its call for the Department of Homeland Security to grant the nationals of Yemen in the USA temporary protected status. Such DHS practice has been granted to several countries before that faced similar crises, whether natural or human-made. There are a number of Yemeni nationals who have become in a legal limbo due to the Yemeni crisis. These fellow human beings deserve the peace of mind of granting them the TPS, so they face no aggravating legal complications.

AHRC calls upon the DHS and the Enforcement and Removal agency (ICE), to review the current Yemeni detainees’ files in light of the political situation in Yemen.

Since the beginning of the crisis in Yemen on March 2015,  AHRC and several Yemeni-American organizations advocated for TPS for Yemen. The recent filing for TPS  on April 22, 2015, by the American Arab Anti- Discrimination Committee (ADC), the National Association of Yemeni Americans (NAYA), the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Yemeni American Association (YAA), the Yemeni American Benevolent Association (YABA), and the Yemeni American Civil Rights Coalition (YACRC), is a commendable act that AHRC completely supports.

“Granting TPS to Yemen protects the human rights of Yemeni nationals in the US,” Said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director.
