District 7 City of Detroit Councilman Gabe Leland and community partners are holding a “Walk to Defend our Neighbors” for a foreclosure prevention walk on Saturday February 28,2015 at Don Bosco Hall located at 19321 W Chicago, in Detroit between 9:30am and 1:00PM. This event is an opportunity to share information door to door, helping those who are facing foreclosures in the right direction, help neighbors obtain the information they need to save their homes and help people know their rights. It’s important to note that March 31, 2015 is the deadline for homeowner payment plan. To RSVP call 313-224-2151 or email: LelandG@detroitmi.gov.
AHRC calls upon all fellow citizens who are facing this challenge in Detroit to attend this event and learn about their rights. Housing and being granted a home to live is a basic human right that must be protected and preserved. It is very unfortunate that the economic crisis impacted citizens and threatened them to lose their homes. This is an ongoing challenge that mandates attention and mandates effective solutions so people do not lose their homes and neighborhoods are not destroyed by vacant homes that become a nuisance.
“Preserving home ownership and neighborhood stability are vital to the recovery of Detroit, a city with immense potential for greatness and prosperity” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive director.
