The American Human Council (AHRC-USA) condemns in the strongest terms the recent wave of violence, crimes, terror and genocide against innocent Muslims in Myanamar.

The armed forces, armed militants and Buddhist extremist groups attacked a number of villages in Mayanmar where reports indicate the rape and brutal slaughtering of children, women and the elderly for no reason but their religious affiliation  and ethnicity.

These recent crimes are crimes against humanity that merit the world’s immediate attention and intervention to end this ongoing misery and help put an end to hate, racism and ethnic cleansing.

The American Human rights Council (AHRC-USA) calls upon the United Nations as well as the United States to act promptly to protect these civilians and hold Myanamar’s  government and the government- backed extremists accountable. It is important to note that violence by some Buddhists or Buddhist monks is not an indictment of all Buddhists or Buddhism itself. Hate and extremism have no religion.

“It might be surprising to some that Buddhist extremists and terrorists, backed by the government of Myanamar, have been persecuting the Muslim Rohingya for years now,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “The genocidal campaign has to stop,” added Hamad.
