Dr. John Khaler:
A pediatrician from Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Khaler has devoted his medical career to serving underserved populations in metropolitan Chicago and around the world. Dr. Khaler attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He also works yearly at a clinic in Duchy, Haiti. In addition, Dr. Khaler is a member of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and participates in its conferences.
Ms. Miakoda Wolin-Collins, The Kayla Mueller “Spirit of Humanity” Award:
AHRC’s Kayla Mueller “Spirit of Humanity” Award will be presented to Ms. Miakoda Wolin-Collins of Tampa, Florida. Kayla Mueller, an American humanitarian aid worker from Prescott, Arizona, was killed by the IS “Islamic State” terrorist group while volunteering to help Syrian refugees
