The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) calls for immediate stop to the ongoing massive military assaults on the city of Aleppo in Syria. These attacks are in blatant violation of the latest cease fire between the Syrian regime and the opposition. The latest escalation of the attacks on Aleppo have resulted in massive destruction to the city as well a high toll of innocent civilians been killed and injured. The victims include a high percentage of children, women and the elderly.
AHRC warns that the humanitarian crisis in the city of Aleppo is very immense and the city’s civilians are in dire and immediate need of assistance and their very survival is at stake. The continued bombardment of the city and its population presents an imminent threat of catastrophe. AHRC calls on the international community, especially the Obama administration, to work on halting these attacks and to help vacate the besieged civilians reach safe havens. AHRC strongly condemns all attacks on civilians as war crimes, as violations of the laws of war. War crimes are violations of humanitarian international law and should not go unpunished.
“We are shocked beyond words by the magnitude and ferocity of the attacks on Aleppo,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “We call for an immediate stop of all attacks on civilians and civilian targets everywhere, especially in Aleppo, and we urge the world community to spare no effort to help bring the carnage in Syria to an end,” said Hamad.
