The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) strongly condemns the displacement of hundreds of Palestinians in the West Bank due to housing demolitions by the Israeli occupation army. According to a press release by Mr. Robert Piper, the Coordinator for Humanitarian and UN Development Activities for the occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), in 2016 so far more than four hundred Palestinians have been displaced, including 219 children due to the destruction, dismantling or confiscation of hundreds of Palestinian homes by Israeli Forces. In the same time, Israel continues, in violation of international law, to expand illegal Jewish-only settlement on Palestinian occupied land.
AHRC-USA stands in complete and full solidarity with the displaced Palestinians in the West Bank. AHRC calls on the international community to demand that Israel end its violations of the human rights of the occupied Palestinians. In order to promote and advance human rights worldwide, we must work as a collective global community to eliminate discrimination in regards to basic needs such as shelter, housing and safety. Israel is violating one of the most basic rights of the Palestinians.
“The human rights of the occupied Palestinians are continuously violated by Israel and the root of this is the illegal occupation,” stated Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “Israel must be compelled to live up to its international obligations,” stated Hamad.
