[April 29, 2019]: The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) expresses its sincere and warm gratitude to all friends, supporters, guests and sponsors who once again made the AHRC “Spirit of Humanity” Awards and Dinner Gala a greater success this year. The Gala was held on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Dearborn.

The full house of diverse group of friends of all backgrounds, interfaith leaders, government agencies, and law enforcement agencies (local, state and Federal), corporates, businesses, guests (local, out of state and international), members of the judicial system, media and academic institutions. This audience reflected the American mosaic, all united in celebrating the culture of human rights, human dignity and human respect.

AHRC owes its success to all of its supporters, donors and friends who for the past five years provided their support to advance the cause of human rights at home and abroad. AHRC’s entire team are humbled by this warm support, reaffirms its unwavering commitment and dedication to defend, protect and advance human rights equally for everyone one.

AHRC Holds another Successful Spirit of Humanity Gala:

In a room full of over 800 friends, guests and supporters, the American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) held its annual “Spirit of Humanity” Awards and Dinner Gala on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Dearborn, Michigan.

The event was an inspiring evening full of diverse people, believers in the cause of human rights. The audience included people of all backgrounds, interfaith leaders, government agencies, law enforcement agencies (local, state and Federal), business people, invited guests (local, out of state and international), members of the judicial system, media and academic institutions.

Rep. Isaac Robinson was the gala’s master of ceremony. This year’s Spirit of Humanity awardees included the Hon. Judge Denise Langford Morris, of the Oakland County Circuit Court; Mr. Benjamin Ladraa from Sweden; Ms. Summer Nasser from Yemen and Dr. Maha Jaafar from Sudan. The Special guests included, Dr. Sadaf Jaffer, Montgomery Township, New Jersey Mayor, Mr. David Kurt David, EMMY Award Winning TV Show Host and Mr. Heaster Wheeler, Aide to Michigan Secretary of State.

The AHRC gala highlighted the organization’s belief in and commitment to empowering women. The event featured AHRC’s Women delegation that participated in the United Nations International Women Session that was held at the United Nation’s Headquarters in New York City this past March.

In addition, Mayor Jack O’Reilly of the city of Dearborn and Chief R. Haddad of Dearborn Police Department, welcomed Mayor Sadaf Jaffer to Dearborn and presented her with the Key to the city.

In a statement issued by the AHRC, it noted that the American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) expressed its sincere and warm gratitude to all its friends, supporters, guests and sponsors who once again made the AHRC “Spirit of Humanity” Awards and Dinner Gala a great success.

Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director, was quoted in the statement saying: “AHRC owes its success to all of its supporters, donors and friends who for the past five years provided their support to advance the cause of human rights at home and abroad. AHRC’s entire team are humbled by this warm support, reaffirm their unwavering commitment and dedication to defend, protect and advance human rights equally for everyone. AHRC will continue its diligent work fighting for human rights locally, nationally and internationally.”

The AHRC statement quoted Dr. Saleh Muslah, AHRC Board President, commenting on the gala: “No words are enough to express our appreciation and thanks to all who attended the Gala this year. AHRC takes pride in its supporters.”

Interfaith leaders, Sheik Dr. Abdulhamid of the Islamic Center of Detroit, Imam Sayed Hassan Qazwini of the Islamic American Institute and Rev. David Bullock, of the Greater St. Mathew Baptist Church and the Change Agent Consortium in Detroit delivered the dedication and the invocations remarks.

“AHRC takes pride in its supporters,” said Imad Hamad. “AHRC will continue its diligent work fighting for human rights locally, nationally and internationally,” continued Hamad.
