The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins the world community in recognizing March 8 as annual International Women’s Day. On this day we stand in respect to all women in the world. We support those fortunate to enjoy the freedom, peace and prosperity that democratic countries offer. We also support and stand in solidarity with women who are less fortunate, deprived of basic human rights, and that endure hardships and continued challenges including being prime victims of human trafficking and “social” slavery and utilized in the sex industry.
International Women’s Day is a reminder to all of us that full equality and social justice are still denied to women on the basis of their gender. Women are an integral part of our humanity and like men are entitled to equal opportunities in life. Women rights are Human Rights.
“Every day is women’s day. They are our mothers, our wives and our sisters.” said Imad Hamad AHRC Executive Director. “The struggle for the rights of women is at the core of the struggle for human rights,” continued Hamad.
