[Michigan, December 30, 2020]: The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mayor Dan Paletko, Mayor of Dearborn Heights. Mr. Paletko died last night December 29, 2020. He was seventy years old and he died from Covid-19 complications.

Mayor Paletko spent years in public service. He served on the Dearborn Heights city council from 1974 to 2002 and on 2002 he was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. In 2004 he started his tenure as mayor of the city of Dearborn Heights, a position he held until his death.

Mayor Paletko public service record speaks for itself. He sustained an open- door policy and was responsive to his community of diverse constituents.

We at AHRC consider the death of Mayor Paletko a personal loss that we mourn. He was a friend to AHRC and regularly attended our events. He will be missed.

Mayor Paletko’s death is another painful reminder that the threat of Covid-19 is real. We continue to face this pandemic and we should all continue to take the required precautions.

“Mayor Paletko was a good friend and a great public servant,” said Mr. Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “He will be missed,” continued Hamad.
