The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins the world’s human rights community in decrying the rise of the human tragedies in many troubled areas across the globe. One of the most troubled spots in the world is Syria. A number of cities in Syria have been under siege with no food allowed leading to starvation of noncombatants that include women and children. AHRC condemns the use of starvation as a military tool no matter who is besieging and who is besieged.
AHRC calls on all the parties to the conflict to respect human rights. We condemn violations of human rights in Syria regardless of the identity of the victim or the identity of the perpetrator. We call on the parties involved in the conflict in Syria to not use starvation as a tool of war and for the international community to continue its efforts to bring the conflict in Syria to a resolution that ends the suffering of the Syrian population and allows the refugees to return.
