[Michigan, October 18, 2023]:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) expresses its serious concerns regarding the ongoing Biden administration unprecedented, extreme, and unconditional support to Israel and its ongoing atrocities and genocidal war against innocent civilians in Gaza.
This unconditional support is encouraging Israel to advance war crimes and human rights violations with no fear of accountability, given U.S. diplomatic and military support.
President Biden’s recent visit to Israel has failed all peace-loving people at home and abroad and added to the fears of further escalation and more innocent casualties. The hope that the world and the victims expected from President Biden’s visit may bring some relief has dissipated into disappointment.
President Biden’s visit has provided full support for Netanyahu’s racist, far-right government to proceed with its ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza paving the way for forced transfer of Palestinians out of Gaza and the other occupied territories.
The current ongoing Israeli war crimes are a blatant violation of human rights and international law. Such crimes present a serious challenge to international laws and norms.
AHRC warns that silence on the continued Israeli industrial scale war crimes in Gaza present a risk to the whole world. The US stamp of unconditional approval will contribute to anti-American sentiment in the region and across the world.
We urge the Biden administration to reconsider its position on the ongoing conflict. There will be no winners in this ongoing conflict. The Biden administration should listen to the UN and UNRWA. A presidential re-election campaign is no excuse for US co-ownership of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
