[Michigan, August 9, 2022]:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins all peace-loving people across the world in calling on Israel to immediately halt its attacks on Gaza and calls on all parties to comply with the ceasefire.
We condemn the killing of children. It is against international law to target noncombatants. AHRC condemn all violence against noncombatants.
Gaza has been under a brutal siege for the past 15 years. Palestinians in Gaza been living in an open-air prison. There is no equivalence of power between Gaza and nuclear-power Israel. Despite all the violence, the Palestinians have persisted in asserting their rights under international law and UN resolutions. No amount of violence and no siege has been able to defeat them.
AHRC believes that a solution to the conflict is possible if there is the needed political will on the American side. International law and UN resolutions are the guideposts to the solution. AHRC calls for sending United Nations personnel to provide protection for the Palestinians.
“The Palestinians continue to suffer from a brutal occupation that doesn’t see them as fully and equally human,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC executive Director. “We call on the Biden administration to showcase its commitment to human rights and rule of law by ending Israeli abuses,” added Hamad. “We don’t ask for anything except respect for international law, human rights and UN resolutions,” concluded Hamad.
