This year’s electoral turnout has exceeded expectations. Millions have already voted and millions are still expected to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.
While there have been long lines and some problems with mailed in ballots, overall, the process has run remarkably well for a Covid-19 world. AHRC salutes all who voted and are planning to vote.
Voting is a right and a civic duty.
Every vote counts. The fact that millions have already voted should not discourage anyone from voting on Election day. This election is not only about the choice of a President. There are all kinds of offices and measures on the ballot. Even if you decide I am not happy with the choices for one position, you can still vote the other choices on the ballot.
AHRC urges all voters, and volunteers who will be working the polling stations, to be civil. Refrain from antagonizing others and, if antagonized, ignore the person who does. If you feel threatened, don’t hesitate to contact law enforcement.
AHRC, along with other organizations, will be monitoring the situation on Tuesday.
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 is the last day to vote this election cycle. However, it might not be the day to know the results. AHRC urges all to be patient and let our legal and political system work.
“We urge everyone to vote and encourage others to vote, but then after Tuesday just take a break from the news and ignore biased commentary and hype,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive director. “There is no point to arguing or fighting with our friends, family, neighbors and other fellow citizens after all have voted,” added Hamad.
