On Saturday, August 15th, 2015, the AHRC joined Kingdom Culture Church, Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans, Councilman Gabe Leland and State Representative LaTanya Garrett in helping coordinate a Back to School Community Empowerment Rally and Resource Fair for students and families at Schoolcraft and Kentucky on Detroit’s Westside.
AHRC Board Member Isaac Robinson and AHRC Member Elisa Grubbs served on the organizing and fundraising committees for the event. Planning meetings for the event started in March of 2015.
“The event helped connect local families with health, housing and jobs resources and gave our young people a day filled with fun and excitement. We look forward to partnering with this government, faith and community coalition in years to come,” said Imad Hamad, Executive Director of the AHRC.
Marching bands from Denby High School and Ecorse High kicked off a day of excitement and empowerment
