[Michigan, January 5, 2024]:

The American Human Rights Council (ARC-USA) extends its heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Faye Awada. Faye died yesterday, January 4, 2024, after a bitter battle with sickness.

For many years, Faye served as the director of United International Services (UIS). UIS services included handling immigration forms, referrals to community and social services, guidance, counseling, and translations.

Faye served the community at large tirelessly. She was actively engaged with countless community organizations and causes including serving as AHRC advisory board member. She was known for her kindness, humility, and humanity. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend to so many.

Faye was a role model for the independent and successful woman who works hard to make a difference. She was not a showy person; she did not seek public credit or the limelight. AHRC recognized her immense contributions by awarding her the 2022 AHRC’s “Tribute of Distinguished Community Service” Award for decades of community service.

Faye Awada is a community icon and figure that will be missed by so many. She has touched the lives of so many people in the community.

“It is a sad day. Faye was a devoted friend and a true fighter for justice,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “We deeply mourn her loss,” continued Hamad.
