[Michigan, May 15, 2024]:

The American Human rights Council (AHRC-USA) expresses deep condolences for the death of Mr. Reda Saleh. Mr. Saleh died because of serious complications due to severe beatings that he was subjected to on April 17 after he had left work. Mr. Saleh is the father of a well-respected community businessperson and leader, Mr. Abed Saleh. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday and Sunday (May 11 and May 12) at the Islamic Institute of America in Dearborn Heights before his body was transported to be buried in his birthplace in Lebanon.

Mr. Saleh was involved in a minor traffic accident in Detroit. According to an eyewitness, the driver of the other car aggressively beat Mr. Saleh and fled the scene. Mr. Saleh was transported to Sinai-Grace Hospital where he was put on life-support for almost two weeks until he was pronounced dead on May 11, 2024.
This crime is still being investigated by the Detroit Police investigation. Anyone who might have information related to this crime and the identity of the preparator (s) should contact the Detroit police.

AHRC joins Mr. Saleh’s family and the community at large in calling for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator of this senseless crime.
“We are fully confident that the perpetrator of this senseless crime will be held accountable,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director.
