AHRC Congratulates Election Winners, Salutes Voters, and Calls for Unity

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) congratulates all winning candidates at every level of government across the nation, particularly those who prevailed in this year’s highly competitive and heated election races. AHRC also salutes the voters whose participation and voices shaped these elections.

Voters voted. Voters decided. The people spoke. In a vibrant democracy, election results reflect the will of the people and must be respected. These results send a clear message: Americans want change, responsible leadership, and meaningful action on the challenges facing our nation. People’s interests and concerns must no longer be ignored or held hostage to narrow political agendas.

Elections must be about people and their everyday concerns—not race, faith, gender, ethnicity, national origin, or political labels. People are stressed and frustrated by the economy, the cost of living, the state of our democracy, ongoing wars, immigration enforcement, and challenges facing healthcare and education. These are real issues affecting ordinary families and communities. Voters have made their expectations clear: they want solutions, accountability, and renewed hope.

Michigan’s historic election of U.S. Senator-elect Dr. Abdul El-Sayed sends a powerful message about America’s values, diversity, equal opportunity, and coexistence. His victory is a reminder that the American Dream belongs to everyone, regardless of name, faith, race, or background. No one should be denied the opportunity to pursue that dream.

AHRC joins the people of Michigan in congratulating Senator-elect Dr. Abdul El-Sayed on his historic victory. We also congratulate Governor-elect Jocelyn Benson, Attorney General-elect Eli Savit, Secretary of State-elect Garlin Gilchrist II, and all other winning candidates across Michigan and the nation.

Once again, Michigan demonstrates the strength of its diversity and the importance of inclusion. Winning an election, however, is only the beginning. Elected officials must honor their commitments, remain accountable, listen to all communities, and serve everyone—not just those who voted for them. Respecting election results must go hand in hand with holding elected officials accountable.

The elections are over. Now is the time for unity, not division. We may disagree politically, but we share common challenges, common interests, and a common future. AHRC calls on elected officials, community leaders, and the public to put divisive politics behind us and focus on what truly matters: the well-being, dignity, and interests of ordinary people.

People’s interests must come first—above party politics, personal ambitions, and division. Unity, accountability, and responsible leadership are not options; they are necessities for a stronger, fairer, and more united America.
