[Michigan, March 12, 2026]:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC USA) urgently calls for an immediate end to the escalating cycle of war and violence engulfing the Middle East. No nation in the region is spared from the consequences. All are suffering, facing destruction, instability, and the tragic loss of innocent lives, including American service members. The open-ended confrontation with Iran has placed every neighboring country in the crossfire.
As global attention is consumed by the rapidly expanding Israeli American military campaign against Iran, Israel continues to intensify its operations in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
Recent large scale and indiscriminate Israeli attacks on Lebanon have devastated civilian neighborhoods and destroyed primary residences, forcing more than 750,000 people to flee. This mass displacement has created a severe humanitarian crisis in a country already burdened by deep economic instability. Civilians have no choice but to comply with the Israeli Army evacuation orders, abandoning their homes with no guarantee of safety. Entire families, including children, have been killed execution style.
Displaced residents are now sheltering in public schools and community facilities that lack adequate resources to support children, women, the elderly, and individuals with medical needs. Humanitarian needs are immense and growing by the day.
This war has become a proxy conflict that aligns with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extreme far right agenda for the region. It is deeply regrettable that Israel has succeeded in drawing the United States into a war that was avoidable and whose consequences will be painful for all involved.
Given the United States’ leading role in the unfolding situation, we urge President Trump to help end this cycle of war and reopen the path toward genuine peace negotiations. Diplomacy is not war, but it must guide the way forward. The human cost of continued conflict is unbearable, and the region cannot endure further devastation.
The scale and escalation of this conflict demand urgent intervention from the U.S. Congress and the United Nations. Both must act swiftly and decisively to help end the war and uphold their mandate to protect international peace and security. The human suffering is too great to ignore.
