The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins the nation in observing Memorial Day, which falls on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Memorial Day is a solemn occasion to honor and remember the brave men and women who served our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. It is also a time to reflect on the core values that define the United States—freedom, justice, equality, and human dignity.
This year, we mark Memorial Day during global unrest and complex challenges. From Sudan to Gaza to Ukraine, many regions are mired in war and humanitarian crises. America traditionally championed human rights and democratic principles on the world stage, but today these values are being tested at home and abroad.
Here in the United States, we are likewise called to prove that our commitment to liberty, justice, and the rule of law is enduring. These values must be renewed through our words, our actions, and our collective will. Memorial Day serves as a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through sacrifice, and they require ongoing vigilance and dedication to preserve.
AHRC expresses its deepest gratitude to all who have served and to the families who live with the loss of loved ones. Their sacrifice is a solemn debt we must repay by living up to the ideals they defended.
We extend our heartfelt wishes to all for a safe, reflective, and peaceful Memorial Day holiday and weekend.
“To remember the fallen is to recommit ourselves to the ideals they gave their lives to protect—freedom, justice, and human dignity for all,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director.

AHRC Mission:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC) is dedicated to defending and protecting human rights as outlined in the U.S. Constitution and the United Nations 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The AHRC was formed to protect these rights and advocate for anyone whose rights are being violated or denied. To that end, the AHRC will build a tenacious, objective, and carefully guided advocacy program that will serve to defend individual human rights, whenever and wherever they are being infringed upon.
