The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) strongly condemns Israel’s ongoing and blatant violations of the ceasefire agreements signed with Lebanon and Gaza. The Israel–Lebanon ceasefire, signed on November 26, 2024, and the Israel–Gaza ceasefire, signed on January 19, 2025, were intended to halt hostilities and protect civilian lives.
Yet Israel has continued deliberate military operations—particularly in southern Lebanon—targeting civilians and destroying residential infrastructure.
Since the signing of the ceasefires, Israel has reportedly committed over 4,500 violations in Lebanon and over 900 violations in Gaza, including airstrikes, drone attacks, and targeted killings. These actions have resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and widespread destruction, undermining the credibility of the agreements.
These near-daily violations hinder the Lebanese government and army’s ability to implement and enforce the ceasefire terms. Israel routinely invokes unfounded accusations to justify its continued aggression, acting with impunity and disregard for international law and ceasefire commitments—including those made to President Trump.
Israel’s defiance extends beyond Lebanon. In Gaza, it continues military operations despite the ceasefire, while obstructing the delivery of critical humanitarian aid to Palestinians. Simultaneously, in the West Bank, Israel escalates violence by enabling illegal settlers and extremists to assault Palestinian civilians—including children, women, and the elderly.
AHRC calls on the Trump administration to exert immediate and sustained pressure on Israel to halt its aggression and comply fully with ceasefire obligations in Lebanon and in Gaza. President Trump must honor his pledge to enforce accountability and uphold international agreements. The continued killing of innocent civilians in Gaza and Lebanon constitutes war crimes and must end.
“Despite the administration’s claims, the wars in Gaza and in Lebanon are still ongoing,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “We urge President Trump to use his immense leverage to end Israeli aggression in Lebanon and in Gaza,” concluded Hamad.
