AHRC Calls for Diplomacy, Not War with Iran:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC USA) joins the global community and all peace-loving people in urging diplomacy and negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran amidst imminent possibility of U.S. military action.
AHRC believes that diplomacy remains the only path capable of ending confrontations. Conflicts and wars will NOT deliver a win for all humanity. War must never be the answer to political or ideological differences.
The turmoil and violence in the Middle East are not inevitable. They are the direct result of political decisions, including those made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The ongoing violations of ceasefires and the continued killing of civilians in Gaza and Lebanon and ongoing atrocities against Syria reflect a broader political agenda that fuels instability.
Wars are the direct result of political decisions, especially those made by war criminal Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The ongoing violations of ceasefires and the continued killing of civilians in Gaza and Lebanon and ongoing atrocities against Syria reflect a broader political agenda that fuels instability.
Recent remarks by US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, suggesting it would be “fine if Israel took it all” invoking a biblical claim to territory from the Mediterranean to the Euphrates—are alarming. Of course, not all Christians subscribe to the viewpoint expressed by ambassador Huckabee. But such statements are extremely dangerous given the extremist Israeli government and its agenda. These statements give the impression that the US endorses the extremist visions of a “Greater Israel” and reinforce Arab and Muslim concerns about Israeli expansionist policies. We consider the push for war with Iran as part of this extremely dangerous strategy.
Israel remains the primary force advocating for war on Iran and would be the chief beneficiary of such a conflict. The escalating cycle of tension between the U.S. and Iran ultimately serves the political interests of Netanyahu’s extremist and far-right government, not the American people.
The interests of the United States and its citizens must come first. U.S. foreign policy should not be driven by the agenda of any foreign leader. Instead, the United States should work toward de-escalation, stability, and peace.
AHRC reaffirms that war and violence are political choices, not inevitabilities.
