The American Human Rights Council (AHRC USA) urgently calls for an immediate end to the war against Iran. The launch of U.S. and Israeli military attacks abruptly cut short ongoing negotiation sessions that were expected to continue. War and violence are never the answer to political disagreements. Diplomacy and negotiations must remain the only viable path forward.
President Trump’s decision to attack Iran is a unilateral act of war that bypassed the U.S. Congress and disregarded the United Nations and the international community. The only legal war in international law is a defensive war. This is not a defensive war.
AHRC has long warned that any escalation toward war or military confrontation with Iran would lead to devastating consequences, including immeasurable human suffering, loss of life, and widespread destruction.
Iran is a sovereign nation, and its sovereignty—like that of all nations—must be respected, not violated. The current U.S. and Israeli military actions constitute a clear breach of U.S. law and international law.
Iran poses no threat to the United States. Israel is the primary driver behind this war and stands to be its chief beneficiary. This conflict does not serve American interests; it advances a narrow political agenda aligned with the far-right government of Prime Minister Netanyahu. Such a war risks engulfing the entire region in flames and further destabilizing the Middle East.
AHRC calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urges de-escalation, and the swift resumption of diplomatic negotiations. Preventing further bloodshed and avoiding catastrophic regional consequences must be the highest priority.
