AHRC: Memorial Day – Honoring Sacrifice, Upholding American Values:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC) joins all Americans in commemorating Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026. This solemn day reaffirms our nation’s enduring commitment to freedom, liberty, justice, and human dignity for all.

Memorial Day is a day of unity. It calls on us to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States, as well as the veterans who continue to embody courage and dedication.

Even in extraordinary and challenging times, this day reminds us that the freedoms we cherish were secured through profound sacrifice, and they demand our continued vigilance and resolve. Memorial Day strengthens our collective commitment to these values.

It is also a moment to reflect on the values that define America. Freedom, justice, equality, and human dignity are not abstract ideals; they are principles that must be renewed through our actions and upheld in our communities. Memorial Day strengthens our collective commitment to these values.

We encourage everyone to take part in their local Memorial Day observances. One especially significant event is the City of Dearborn’s 100th Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony. The event takes place on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.

Dearborn’s Memorial Day parade is Michigan’s longest running, and it will mark a century of honoring the bravery and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

This year’s parade will be led by United States Naval Captain Houssain “Sam” T. Sareini, a Dearborn native who will serve as Grand Marshal of the centennial celebration.

AHRC wishes everyone a safe, peaceful, and reflective Memorial Day holiday and weekend.
