AHRC: We Honor Dr. King by Embracing Unity, Dialogue, Peace, Nonviolence, and Human Rights for All
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins the nation and all peace-loving people at home and across the globe in observing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Dr. King was a human rights hero and global icon whose struggle and determination transformed the United States and inspired human rights advocates worldwide.
AHRC recognizes this day as a day of peace and unity—a day where we continue to build bridges of respect and understanding. Despite the temptation to surrender to feelings of hopelessness and despair amid division and strife, we continue the struggle and urge others never to give up the mission of dignity and human rights for all.
This year, a divided nation celebrates Dr. King’s Day. On MLK Day, and every day, we must remember that violence, hatred, and anger are not the answer. We should follow Dr. King’s example and work to achieve our goals peacefully. On this occasion, we affirm that together, we continue the struggle to make Dr. King’s dream a fully lived reality for all Americans.
Dr. King’s legacy continues to inspire people around the world, especially in Palestine. The occupied Palestinian people have been denied the most basic human and civil rights for far too long. We urge President Trump to honor Dr. King’s legacy with a foreign policy that promotes American interests while upholding human and civil rights in Palestine and across the world.
On this special day, AHRC reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting and advancing human rights and to helping create a culture of respect for the human dignity of all.
Dr. King not only changed the United States; he continues to serve as a global inspiration for change. He inspired people of all races and colors to work toward a world free from hate and discrimination.
“Dr. King is a national and international hero who belongs to all humanity,” stated Dr. Saleh Muslah, AHRC Board President. “His legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come,” added Dr. Saleh.
“Dr. King’s Day reminds us of what is important working to make our world a better place for everyone,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “Dr. King continues to inspire us to keep up the struggle for human rights and never give up,” added Hamad.
