[Michigan, December 24,2025]
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its warmest wishes of a joyous and safe Christmas to all Christians in the United States and around the world. There are 2.6 billion Christians worldwide, and Christmas is the most widely recognized holiday globally. Many non-Christians also celebrate the holiday by giving gifts and setting up a Christmas tree. It is a joyful time of the year.
The holiday season is not only a time to share gifts, but also to open our hearts and minds and celebrate our shared humanity. It is the season of appreciating what we have and sharing our blessings with others.
Despite the many challenges facing our world and humanity we celebrate. Despite everything, we remain optimistic and hopeful. We should not allow challenging times to take away from the spirit of the holiday of the Prince of Peace. Despite hardships and challenges, the human spirit perseveres.
In Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, in the occupied Palestinian West Bank, the city will hold its Christmas festivities this year despite the immense ongoing suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel has been committing war crimes in Gaza and in the West Bank. We are nowhere near peace in Palestine. The world has failed Palestine.
We hope and pray that the year 2026 will mark the end of many, if not all, of the tragedies in the world, and that it will be a year celebrated with peace and justice everywhere around the globe. In the spirit of the holidays, let us unite against hate, division, and conflict so that peace and justice can be real for all.
“Jesus Christ was born in Palestine,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “We honor him not just by celebrating his birth but by working to bring peace to his birthplace,” added Hamad.
“On behalf of the board of directors of AHRC, I would like to wish everyone happy holidays and Merry Christmas,” said Dr. Saleh Muslah, AHRC Board President. “We look forward to our continued work with friends and supporters of all backgrounds with a commitment to human rights for all,” continued Dr. Muslah.
