[Michigan, August 29, 2025]
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends warm wishes to all—especially the hardworking men and women across the United States and Canada—for a safe and joyful Labor Day holiday. This year, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Labor Day is a time to honor the immense contributions of American workers in shaping and building our nation. It is a celebration of the labor force whose dedication and perseverance continue to drive our economy forward. Their sacrifices and efforts have laid the foundation for the prosperity we enjoy today, and we owe them a profound debt of gratitude.
Despite the challenging political climate and difficult circumstances many workers face—especially farmers, immigrants, service workers, and those in essential industries—these individuals continue to produce the goods and services that sustain our daily lives. Often working under demanding conditions, they remain the backbone of our economy. They should all be fairly compensated for the work they do and should be able to share in the great wealth that the economy is producing.
American labor has played a pivotal role in the country’s development, and it is only fitting that these contributions be recognized, empowered, supported, and rewarded.
We call on Congress to recognize the many contributions of immigrants, documented and undocumented. Today, there are millions of undocumented immigrants in the country, men and women who have contributed significantly to the US over the years. Deporting millions is not practical or moral. It devastates families and communities.
The US Congress must find a solution that is consistent with American democratic values. We urge President Trump to execute the law with an understanding that immigrants, documented and undocumented, have helped build the US and continue to contribute. Policies that demonize immigrants are inconsistent with democratic values and basic decency.
