Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a dedicated pediatrician in Gaza, endured an unimaginable tragedy—the loss of eight of her children. They were burned alive. Her husband and one of her children remain in critical condition. This horrific act is part of a recurring pattern, where children and families in Gaza are prime targets of the Israeli violence. Such brutality is not just an attack on individuals but an assault on humanity itself.
The world remains silent, failing to uphold the basic principles of human dignity and justice. Dr. Alaa al-Najjar and the people of Gaza do not need empty words or political hypocrisy; they need action. They need justice.
It is heartbreaking that such atrocities unfold before the eyes of the world, streamed in real time, yet there is no end to the starving and killing of Palestinians. Children are killed daily, families are obliterated, and displacement intensifies. The relentless bombardment targets families sheltering in tents and schools reduced to rubble.
Through unbearable grief, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar remains steadfast. She clings to the coffins of her eight children, mourning their unjust deaths. Meanwhile, her husband and one of her children continue to fight for their lives.
Her sorrow is not hers alone—it reflects the suffering that Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have endured for decades. The ongoing war, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement persist, with no accountability for Israel. Generations of Palestinian babies, infants, children, and pregnant women have been buried alive, victims of an unrelenting cycle of violence. This is the legacy of Israeli war criminals, and yet Israel continues to receive unconditional support from the US that enables further atrocities. All these deaths are preventable.
The Israeli aim in Palestine is clear—to erase Gaza, annex the West Bank, and forcibly expel Palestinians, repeating the catastrophe of 1948. Palestinians with Israeli citizenship are not safe either.
“Dr. Alaa al-Najjar embodies the resilience of all Palestinian mothers who mourn their loved ones, killed by the savage Israeli death machine,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “This carnage will continue until the US decides to stop it,” added Hamad.
